ARITCLE XV – DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
INTRODUCTION: We believe the Bible. We believe it to be the literal Word of God from start to finish. We believe it to be inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative in everything it says. We believe that the God who inspired it, is the God who has preserved it for each generation and will til the end of time.
This Statement of Faith is not exhaustive in content nor thorough in any subject, but does state forth the basics of Bible –believing Christianity. We want all to know that we believe the soul-saving live-changing, message of God’s Holy Word, and preach and teach it without apology. We believe the Holy Bible, as translated in the Authorized King James Version.
Governor of the universe, and in Scripture we see that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit make up the Godhead, yet as one God infinitely wise and good, who alone Is worthy of our supreme love and worship. (Deuteronomy 6:4; I John 5:17; John 4:24; Psalm 83:18; Exodus 15:11; Mark 12:30; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 2:18)
We promise, by His grace, to love and obey Him in all things, to avoid all appearance of evil, to abstain from all sinful activities and unholy conformity to the world.
We promise that we will watch over and counsel one another in the spirit of brotherly love, and that we will remember one another in our prayers and that we will aid each other in sickness and distress.
We agree that we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for the services of our church the observances of the ordinances of the Gospel; nor fail to contribute cheerfully and regularly according to our ability for the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.
We further covenant to maintain family and private devotions; to religiously educate our children; to
seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to live carefully in this present world; to be just in
our dealing, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting and unrighteous anger; to abstain from everything that will cause a brother to stumble or that will bring reproach upon the cause amidst evil and good report we will humbly and earnestly seek to live to the honor and glory of Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.
We finally agree to commit ourselves to the local church and its ministries, pledging to work for its advancement in every area; to give it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin; and when we move from this area we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
